Fudōshin

Gert Scholten is a Dutch producer of emotional, uplifting trance. His tracks are built around big cinematic breakdowns and pluck melodies that lift into the drop.

Some productions look back to the early-2000s sound he grew up with, like the album 135 Bpm. Back for Good was inspired by Benno de Goeij, the producer behind Rank 1 and Armin van Buuren. Others push that sound forward with new influences.

EDM Nations has followed his releases since 2019. They praised 135 Bpm for bringing back classic trance with “a modern level of production”. They heard layered pads and melodic arpeggios in On Our Own, a track that “has a story to tell”, and called Crazy Life a song “dancing on the edge of pop and electronic”. With Tigers they pointed to his “tendency to break the genre barriers” and the “strong and powerful cinematic vibes” of its breakdown.
